Onavel is a Revenant Blade of the Tairn Valas, the sect of the Tairnadal elves who have claimed the lands of Valenar through blood and valor. At his birth the priests of the “Keepers of the Past” read in the cosmos a great destiny for Onavel and a powerful connection to the great hero Tahleath who fought to liberate the elves of Xen’drik from the tyrannical rule of their Giant masters.

As any other Tairnadal, Onavel was raised and trained to honor his great ancestor above all and to seek to emulate his deeds. He was taught the ways of the sacred blade of the Tairn Valas, the double edged scimitar and the art of equestrian combat utilizing the mounts of the Tairnadal, the greatest of all war steeds bred to perfection over tens of thousands of years.
When the "Last War" descended upon Korvaire and the Tairnadal where called upon by the Queen of Cyre, Onavel was eager to test his skills and earn honor on the continent where his ancestors once fought so bravely against the forces of the Dhakaan. He was one of the first to cross the waves and spill blood on the battlegrounds of Korvaire.
Onavel proved his superior skill with the blade again and again in the early years of the elves involvement and soon began to run with a newly emerging band of young warriors of astounding skill who sought glorious death in battle as the greatest way to pay homage to their chosen heroic ancestor. This cult later became known as the [death cult] and their fanaticism and zeal in battle earned them respect from their peers and fear from their enemies but distressed their elders with their reckless behavior. This was a magnificent time for these young warriors, valor and honor to be won on any front, the reclaiming of their ancestors lands within this new continent, and the opportunities for a glorious death in battle around every corner.
As the "Last War" raged on Korvaire fell into greater and greater chaos and many of the [death cult] lay dead, their zealous strivings successful but a few had not achieved their glorious death. Onavel was one of these bold warriors left alive among a brotherhood of death. As he moved into adulthood and joined the ranks of the veteran warriors of the Tairnadal, Onavel questioned the principles of sacrifice and death that he had followed so fervently. Through his right of passage Onavel had developed an uncanny connection with his great ancestor and often felt his presence and guiding influence in his direst moments of battle. Though there were still many enemies to be fought in Korvaire, Onavel decided to leave the continent and to return to Areneal to seek understanding and wisdom as to this profound connection to his ancestors spirit.
As he arrived in his homeland Onavel was contacted by "The Keepers of the Past" who had their eye on him throughout his exploits in Korvaire. Upon learning the extent of his ancestral link Onavel was marked to become a Revenant Blade and trained in the deeper mysteries of spirit channeling and blade mastery. For many years Onavel stayed in Areneal and honed his skills while the war still raged on across the waters. Part of his soul screamed out to be among his brothers as their blood mingled with that of their enemies but the Keepers insisted that he would only be able to fulfill his destiny and bring honor to his ancestor and people if he completed his revenant training and joined the elite brotherhood of soul channelers.
As his training neared its end Onavel's connection began to manifest in a astoundingly lucid and tangible way. The spirit of Tahleath began to manifest as an orb of ethereal energy always near to Onavel and with him constantly. At this point Onavel's channeling abilities grew to surpass the understanding of his masters and teachers. It was time. Onavel was sent back to Korvaire, this time a disciplined master of blade, horse, and spirit.
Onavel distinguished himself even among the revenants as the "Last War" finally came to an end. In the tenuous peace that is the wake of the "Last War" a lone rider roams the plains and dunes of Valenar seeking purpose in this era he was never ment to see. He is feared and respected among his own people and follows the guidance of his dual soul as he awaits the word of his king and the call of his destiny.
